Heritages of Hunger Pilot Workshop
Wednesday January 08 | Virtual Event
Event Overview
Join us for a free workshop about the ‘Heritages of Hunger’ learning program presented by Marguérite Corporaal and Willie Jenkins moderated by CIF’s Academic Researcher Laura Smith.
In this workshop you will be presented with the Learning Program developed by the Heritages of Hunger Research Consortium, who develops research about Historical Famines. After the presentation, attendees will be able to provide feedback in a Q&A session and learn more on how to access the learning materials.
Willie Jenkins is an Associate Professor of History at York University where he teaches courses on the history of Ireland and the immigrant experience in Canada. His primary research interest is in the immigration of Irish men, women, and children to Canada and the United States between 1815 and 1914.
Marguérite Corporaal is a Professor at Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen, the Netherlands and the Principal Investigator for the Heritages of Hunger project. She researches Irish literature in a transnational context and European famines in literature, culture, heritage and education.
Laura Smith is a historian of the Irish in Canada. She is interested in the religion and politics of the Irish in early Canada, as well as the management of the migration and settlement in Canada of migrants during the Irish Famine.
